was part of the "Peking Man" discovery in 1923--a
"pre-human" archeological site near modern Beijing,
China. This digging pushed back the "history" of
mankind considerably, and led to Teilhard's mounting
problems with the Catholic Church.

coined the idea of an "omega point" in his philosophy of
man--the modern Omega Institute in New York bases its
foundation on this concept.
