"Divine Song" of Krishna
dates are highly open to question, but the book is thought
to have been written between 500-50 BCE, describing
events that took place sometime between 5,000-3,000
BCE.
It is part of the larger Mahabharata writings, and is a
revered scripture of most Hindus of India, especially those
that follow Krishna. It is written as a dialogue between
Krishna and his charioteer Arjuna, on the eve of the
"Great War" of India. Composed of 700 short poetic
verses, usually written along with long commentaries by
someone else.
"Krishna" means the highest state of consciousness, and
the song of Krishna, the
Bhagavadgita, reaches to the
