Gita Govinda

by  Sri Jayadeva
a collection of sung poems by the Bengali poet
Jayadeva, c. 1100.

Sanskrit:
 गीत गोविन्द
(Gita Govind)

original in Sanskrit, and sung in the Bengali dialect.
translated into many languages

aka:  Geeta Govinda (The Song of the Cowherd)
It is basically a series of love songs sung by Krishna to
his lover Radha.
Geet Govind is something which should be sung.
Nothing can be said about it.  It is a Baul song, the song
of a madman. If you dance and sing it, you will
understand it--there is no other way.

In the flood of the sea of destruction the Vedas intact
You upheld, as if in the loaded boat,
O Kesava, you in the form of a fish--
Be triumphant, Hari, lord of the world!
