Guangxiao Zen Temple sits right
    in the middle of modern
    Guangzhou (used to be called
    Canton) City in south China.
    In addition to Huineng, the 6th
    Ancestor of Chinese Chan
    having lived here, there is some
    legend that Bodhidharma
    himself visited here after he
    landed on the south China
    coast.  As to many things in
    early Zen history, these things
    are more rumors than
    substantiated fact, but the metal
    gong in the photo reminds one
    of that single note of Zen--
    awake to the present!
