to define his writings, which became the English
word "history"

wrote about the Greco-Persian Wars of 490-479
BCE, based on other's oral accounts, and also
other events of ancient times.

many detractors point to large inaccuracies in his
writings, focusing on his method of using second
and third hand accounts, and of modifying events
to suit his needs.
I have heard about Herodotus, a Greek
mathematician, who was the first to discover the
law of averages; and because he was the first man
in history to discover it, he was so full of it that he
was looking at everything through the law of
averages.
