An information sign on the side of the Laozi Hut, the site where the old Daoist master wrote one of the most famous books of all time, the Dao De Jing, a collection of 81 chapters of semi-mysterious, semi-paradoxical writings of ancient Chinese wisdom. This book, which was actually written on bamboo strips tied together, was inked out nearly 2,500 years ago or so. That makes the "old boy", as the name Laozi is literally translated, a contemporay of Gautam Buddha in India. |
