A friend has been coming to me for many years and
he is a great devotee of
Meher Baba. About thirty
years ago he surrendered everything to Meher
Baba and after that he did nothing. He would say,
“Now there is nothing to be done. Now when Meher
Baba wants, it will happen.” It is a very beautiful
idea. But that friend continued to tell lies and to
indulge in drinking alcohol. He continued to live as
before, but now he had this excuse to hide his
weaknesses: “Now, whenever Meher Baba wants, it
will happen. I have left everything to the master.”
Nothing has changed. Only the words are there and
they have become an excuse, a hiding device –
nothing has changed even a bit. If really everything
had been left to the master, his whole life would be
totally transformed. It is bound to be so. But his life
is the same as it was when he was living for his ego;
his ego has remained the same...
