"revelations" promulgating the faith. He is considered the
last prophet of Islam.

died in Medina (then called
Yathrib), Saudi Arabia

The
Shi'ite Muslims believe the true lineage of Islam
descend from Mohammad's daughter's (Fatima) husband
(Mohammad's son-in-law).

The
Sunni Muslims believe the true lineage descends
from Mohammad's close confidant
Abu Bakr, and his
genealogy.

contrary to popular belief, images of the Prophet
Mohammad were commonly made by Muslim artists up to
the 16th and 17th centuries, when the "rule" of not
depicting him began to be enforced with more strength.

Mohammed used to say, "A man of
knowledgeability is just a donkey carrying holy
scriptures." He may feel very proud amongst
other donkeys, who are carrying mundane
things: one carrying salt, another carrying mud,
another carrying sand, another carrying wood –
naturally the donkey who is carrying holy
scriptures is a priest among the donkeys. He is a
great scholar among the donkeys and all the
donkeys are going to be respectful to him; he is
