Rabiya-al-Adabiya

by Rabiya
Rabiya, a woman mystic, was sitting in her house. A
mystic named Hassan was a guest in her house. It was
morning, the sun had risen. Hassan came out of the
house and he gave a loud call, “Rabiya, what are you
doing inside? Come out and see what a beautiful
sunrise it is. Look at this creation of God!”
Rabiya said, “Hassan, it is better that you come inside.
You are looking outside at the creation of God and
here inside I am looking at God himself...”
