Sarmad's Writings
by Sarmad
Sarmad--he was a Sufi, and he was murdered in a mosque by order of the Mohammedan king. I love Sarmad. He has not written any book but his statements have been compiled... --Osho Books I Have Loved

Sarmad has a wild, semi-legendary history. Thought to
be a wealthy Armenian/Jewish businessman who ended
up in India, became a Muslim, became a Hindu, became a
Sufi....some thought he was a Christian.
gave up his business, and declared,
" A'nul Haq" ("I am the Truth"), went around naked, wrote
verses and poems. Eventually tried and convicted for
Islamic heresy, and beheaded by the king, the 3rd son of
the previous king, who had built the Taj Mahal.
There is a book which accentuates his Jewish origin (a
real oddity in 17th century India), that includes many of
his poems--Sarmad, Jewish Saint of India, by I.A Ezekiel,
in English, 1966.
