    Nanyue
     (South mountain)


    This is the name of the
    mountain area of the bigger
    Hengshan mountain range in
    Hunan Province.

    Nanyue is also a well-known early Zen
    master who lived and taught here--
    pronounced Nangaku in Japanese. He
    was the Zen master of Mazu.
